The figure was made public by Obama himself at the concluding ceremony of the health summit convened by him at the White House.
"I get 40,000 letters, I guess, every day here in the White House," Obama said."I don't read all 40,000. But my staff selects 10 every single day that I read and try to respond to as many of them as possible," he said.
This, Obama said is a way to stay in touch with the constituencies that he had a chance to meet during the course of his presidential campaign. Three out of these 10 letters every day, he said, relates to health related issues; which indicates, how serious the issue is.
